Ecom Beast Harry Coleman

Harry Coleman is an Ecom expert who went from getting fired from his 9-5 job to generating multi 7-figures online in 3 years through his ecommerce stores. He has also built a fast growing YouTube channel (currently 24K subs) where he teaches people how to run successful ecommerce stores.

We recently had a chance to chat with Harry and we learned a lot of interesting facts about the man they call the Beast of Ecom.

STT: When did you start out in ecom?

HC: I started my ecommerce journey a few years ago, but it wasn’t with Shopify or Facebook ads. I used to sell things on Ebay. I would import snapback hats from the US and sell them through my eBay store. It was very small scale. It didn’t last long either as my main supplier seemed to just disappear for some reason, I couldn’t get hold of him at all. I had exams at the time so didn’t have the time to find another supplier.

STT: When did you have your first big success/winning product? what was the product?

HC: My first niche store that I opened completely failed. I spent close to $800 just to get 1 sale, but it validated that the system worked. I then opened up a more branded general store and I was focused on the pet niche, more specifically pet jewelry. That was when I first started to get decent sales. One of my first winning products was a cat ring that completely took off. That product started to make me $100-500 a day

STT: How much did you make on your first winning product?
 
HC: On that specific product probably like $40,000

STT: Did you buy any toy/toys with your earnings?

HC: In my first year, my goal was to hit $100K in rev. I totally smashed that out the water so bought a Rolex watch which I always dreamt about owning.

STT: Were there any hard moments/times before you made your breakthrough that you would like to share?

HC: As mentioned, my first ever store completely bombed, I lost money and thought it would be easy. If I would of quit then, I wouldn’t even be writing this for you to read now!

I got fired from my job around the same time I started my first store that failed. I then spent a whole year working another 9-5 job waking early, coming home, napping, eating and working from 8pm till sometimes 3am in the morning on my stores. I used to sleep in my car at lunch times I was that exhausted. But I knew that ecommerce was something I was good at, it was my lane, so I doubled down, went hard and it payed off.

STT: What is something that most people don’t know about you and they would be surprised to find out? 

HC: I used to be a DJ and was also a good footballer. Unfortunately I don’t play much now but I support and watch Arsenal.

STT: What is the most important piece of advice you can give to new entrepreneurs starting out today?

HC: Stay in your lane and always take action. It’s easy to get distracted with all of the content that is out there. People sharing screenshots and new strategies everyday, it can feel overwhelming. But you have to block out the noise, get your head down and crack on

You could read all of the best content in the world but if you don’t apply it then you won’t be successful. I tell people all of the time: “The only way you can learn to swim is by getting in the water”. You have to test, spend a bit of money, get the ball rolling and learn from mistakes. This is the only way.

STT:  What are you plans for the next 2, 5, 10 years… what is your future vision for your business?

HC: Apart from running ecommerce stores I am also into property, so I am working on building up my property portfolio. I have plans to sell some of the stores that are in their early stages in a few years for hopefully large sums of money.

STT: Anything new you are working on that you are excited about? 

HC: I am consistently working on my course Ecom Beast 2.0 and keeping it up to date with new strategies and tricks. How much can you earn from dropshipping?

You can earn anywhere from $0 to over $10000 per month by doing dropshipping. The more you invest, the more you can earn. However, if you are not careful you can also lose money.

How much you earn from dropshipping will vary greatly depending on the number of products you sell in a particular month and your profit margin per product.

For eg – Let’s assume, in a particular month you bought 100 products worth $20 each and sold every one of them for $30. That means you made a profit of $10 per product. Thus, you were able to earn $1000 in that month.

This is your gross profit. In order to find out your net income, you have to minus the defective product returns, money refunds and the marketing cost associated with selling your products from the gross profit.

For eg – Based on the previous example, if it takes you $2 to advertise and sell each product, you are left with a net profit of $8 per product. Also, suppose you had to refund products worth $100 in that particular month. According to the calculations, your net profit for that particular month will be $800-$100 = $700.

How can you increase your earnings from dropshipping?

Dropshipping is an easy business model to get into, but it’s not a guaranteed one. If you are not careful, you can incur some losses. However, if you play your cards right, you can find a very good sustainable source of income.

In order to increase your revenue from dropshipping, you have to do the following –

  • Recognize products that have the potential to sell(evergreen products) well but which has low competition.
  • Learn how to market your online store or products in a way that will maximize your return on investment(ROI).
  • Research thoroughly about your target customers in order to satisfy their needs and wants.
  • Refine your ability to find and penetrate new market segments.
  • Differentiate your brand from the rest of the competitions.
  • Provide value to your customers in order to build brand loyalty.

You also have to research your competitors in order to see how they are approaching their business and adopt their strategy in order to keep up with them or beat them at their own game.

Dropshipping is a high-risk vs high-reward type of business model. Many people try dropshipping without any knowledge, lose their money and claim that dropshipping is hard or it is dead. However, that is not true at all.

People are still making plenty of money through dropshipping. You just have to understand the art of doing dropshipping and forget trying to get rich quick.

In the beginning, you may only earn about $100 per month. However, as you get better at researching products, finding new markets to sell and learn how to properly market your products, you can keep reinvesting money and generate more profits.

Just remember, every viable business model requires effort, investment in both time and money, and some skill in order to generate profit.

Ecom Influencer: Ebenezer Frimpong

Ebenezer Frimpong, who’s first name literally translates to “Stone of Help” has been making a name for himself on YouTube dropping all forms of dropshiping knowledge. As one of the new stars of the Ecom community he’s shown how you can make huge gains with very little spend as he did recently by making 1K in only $0.55 in Google Ad Spend. We caught up with him recently and he was nice enough to answer some of our burning questions!

STT: When did you start out in ecom?

EF: I really started ecom in the summer of 2014 heading into my senior year of high school and I actually didn’t even build that first store my self, I paid a company to build it for me on the bigcommerce platform. That store was a complete flop but I learned a lot from it.

STT: When did you have your first big success/winning product? what was the product?

EF: My first big success came around 2016 from a store I built in the hoverboard niche and with my method of dropshipping, I didn’t just have one product that was doing well..I had multiple but my best selling product was called the Ninebot Mini and was selling it for $550 using a supplier from AliExpress & Singapore.

STT: Did you buy any toy/toys with your earnings?

EF: Buying new toys wasn’t even on my mind haha I was like a shark who just tasted blood..I wanted more. My first and only thought was how do I continue to make more and explore the possibilities of dropshipping.

STT: What is something that most people don’t know about you and they would be surprised to find out?

EF: My most prized possession is an HP Laptop I bought in 2015. It’s a little broken now but it’s the laptop that I made my first $1,000 online on.

STT: What do you like to do when you are not working?

EF: Focus on your goals and embrace every failure as a learning lesson but do not have tunnel vision to the point where you neglect the people closest to you. It’s okay to go to that party, that football game, that dinner with your friends or family. Success tastes better when you don’t lose your personal relationships to get it.

STT: What are you plans for the next 2, 5, 10 years… what is your future vision for your business?

EF: One of my biggest short terms goal is having physical product brand that I can proudly publicly attach my name to. As for my long term goals, I have a couple of different businesses I plan on getting into such as airbnb rentals, rental property in general, software, and mobile app development. Dropshipping was the beginning but I plan on branching out.

STT: Anything new you are working on that you are excited about?

EF: One of the biggest things I’m working on right now is perfecting my High Ticket Dropshipping course (www.frimpongecomacademy.com) and adding more content to it. Also plan on working on an aliexpress + google dropshipping course that may be released sometime December or early next year due to a ton of requests.
